Mystery, suspense, surprises
I'm picky when it comes to mysteries-- I still expect good writing, the characters need to be developed, and I don't want to be able to figure out the ending too soon. This book delivers on all counts.
A young woman from a prominent family makes the mistake of being picked up at a bar by a good looking guy turned abductor. The kidnapper, in a moment of conscience, drives her to a remote cabin in Minnesota rather than turn her over to the bad guys. The rest you'll have to learn by reading the book!
Like most mysteries, there isn't redeeming value, a message to live by, or deep lessons learned. But we read mysteries to be entertained, to take us away, to surprise us. And this book delivers on those counts.
